Computer Professional Education Program - Mentors Required
Mentors are required
for students undertaking the CPE Program to provide guidance, support, sharing
of ideas and experience to assist the students to reach their potential.
Mentoring is online through the Professional Practice Report which is part of
the CPE Program requirements.
Mentoring is about encouraging and challenging
students to explore new ideas, work through dilemmas and develop new approaches
to thinking. The commitment is for the full extent of the course and the type
of mentor we require must be an experienced ICT professional, an ACS Member (PCP
preferred).
Induction program is provided and weekly tutor/mentor "chat"
sessions are held to provide support and to discuss topics. The mentoring role
is unpaid, but any expenses incurred will be met. 25 PCP hours will be allocated
to mentors per annum. For more information contact pam.barnes@acs.org.au or call 1800 671

School Looks to Future with New Name
The School of Informatics and Engineering has continued repositioning itself for the future with a new name.
With immediate effect, the School is now the School of Computer Science, Engineering and Mathematics.
"This renaming has the effect of more explicitly identifying the
component parts of the School in a way that is more consistent with
terminology used elsewhere", said Professor John Roddick, Head of
School. "The term Informatics, while accurate, is often not widely
understood amongst some members of the community".
