1.  Nominations for the 2009 ACS SA BEC close at 5pm today!

Nominations are invited from ACS SA Members for the following positions on the 2009 ACS SA BEC:

Ordinary Committee Members (10 positions)

Also the ACS South Australian Branch Returning Officer

ACS SA would like to see balanced representation by sector and demographic and encourages all members who believe they have the attributes to make a positive contribution to submit their nominations.

5. October Computer Human Interface (CHI) Meeting - Tuesday 28th October

Topic:
 'New Jobs for Thinking Heads'
The Thinking Head, in the persona of Performance Artist Stelarc, has been gaining attention around the world, including at the Beijing Arts Festival in the lead in to the Olympics. However we are grooming the Head for a number of other roles and persona, including as a Teaching Head in a hybrid real/virtual environment, with initial applications focusing on teaching English and German as a foreign language.

The underlying technologies are scarcely three decades old, and some of the most popular sites, such as You Tube and Facebook, are only a few years old, but this new world of information and communcation is now, for many of us, an utterly everyday experience.

Terry Cutler has authored numerous influential reports and papers on the Digital Economy and innovation. During 2008 he chaired the Australian Government’s Review of the National Innovation System.
