4. Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC) Online Survey
As part of this year’s
Australasian Consumer Fraud Taskforce “Fraud Fortnight”
Campaign, the Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC) is conducting
an online survey to gather information about scams occurring in
Australia. The survey will help the Taskforce to improve its annual
awareness program as well as to assist inprevention and investigation activities.

5. Seeking ICT
Professionals in Data Management and Project
Management
ACSEducation,
the division of the ACS responsible for professional development, is seeking
volunteers to assist with assessment of candidates sitting the ACS Diploma of
Information Technology examinations (http://www.acs.org.au/dit/).
Volunteers must
be ACS Members with current PCP status.
The commitment
is not great yet the rewards include:
- up to 25 hours
recognised professional development activity (claimable as PCP
hours).
- an honorarium to cover costs.
- a richer and
more interesting CV.
- the
satisfaction of contributing to the ICT profession and the
ACS.

6. System Administrators' Guild of Australia (SAGE -AU) Conference 2008
SAGE-AU is pleased to announce the sixteenth annual Australian System
Administrators' conference (SAGE-AU'2008) will be held at the Holiday Inn Adelaide (65 Hindley Street), Adelaide from 11th - 15th August
2008.
SAGE-AU
was formed to advance the profession of System Administration by
raising awareness of the need for System Administrators, and educating
System Administrators in technical as well as professional
issues. Our yearly conference provides a forum for System
Administrators of all platforms and levels of experience to gather
together and share their experiences. Further it provides an
excellent opportunity to meet and network with acknowledged experts in
the field.
A call for technical papers and tutorials has now been issued. For more

7. AOQ Software SIG - Tuesday 19th February
Topic: - "Directions in
Defence Supplier Quality Assurance"

This AOQ
Defence Division event will consist of two presentations focusing on policy
directions and implications for Defence supplier quality assurance. In the first
presentation, Rex Russell will
outline ongoing initiatives aimed at reinvigorating quality assurance practices
across all of Defence. For the second presentation, Deryck Clarke will
describe the specific impacts of these initiatives on suppliers to the Defence
Materiel Organisation. We strongly encourage any managers, engineers and quality
professionals working in defence industry to attend this event as it is a unique
opportunity to hear directly from Defence policy makers and to provide feedback
into the policy-making process.
