6. Meet the folks at the ACS PC Recycling Group - Tuesday 16th December
What's on? A free BBQ
Why? Xmas breakup. Get to know what's going on. What do we do? We accept donated computers and equipment which we
refurbish, reinstall software (windows and ubuntu linux) and offer to the
community (low income individuals and groups) at low cost. Since we started we
have placed more than 2000 computers in homes, schools and community

8. Topic of the Week - Austrade 2008 ICT Industry Survey
Austrade
seeks your support and feedback through the Austrade 2008 ICT Industry Survey
Austrade invites you
to complete the Austrade ICT industry survey to ensure you can be contacted
should a relevant international business opportunity
arise.
For ICT companies to
be successful in today’s global market place, companies need to not only develop
and maintain globally competitive, quality, vertical market specific,
technologies and applications, but they also need to excel in their export
business development, product promotion, marketing, distribution and sales into
complex foreign markets. Fortunately Australian ICT companies are able to
receive a broad range of assistance through a comprehensive network of
Australian government, state government and industry associations.
In 2007-08, Austrade
assisted 359 Australian ICT companies win 741 new contracts valued at $439.5m.
These companies increased their international business through Austrade’s
assistance in the identification of export opportunities, customer
identification and business matching, and provision of many other export market
development facilitation services. However, for government to provide the best
possible tailored international business development assistance, it is very
important that Austrade understands the issues and the assistance needs of
Australian ICT companies in the internationalisation of their
businesses.

summarised format only and aims to help establish benchmarks and a clearer
