7. ACS Launches Job Ready Program & Announces Program Partners
ACS Professional Year (PYear) Program puts focus on ICT professionalism
The
ACS (Australian Computer Society) together with the Department of
Immigration and Citizenship today launched a new Professional Year
(PYear) Program, an initiative aimed at former international overseas
students who have graduated from ICT university courses within
Australia and are seeking permanent residency. The ACS Professional
Year (PYear) Program is a ‘job readiness’ program for international
graduates, which aims to provide a bridge from university to permanent
employment. Monash Professional and Swinburne University are the
Program’s first accredited PYear Partners and are currently working
with the ACS to enhance the professionalism and Australian workplace
related skills of former ICT international students.

8. 2008 Internationational Federation of Information Processing (IFIP) World Computer Congress
7-10 September - Milan, Italy
2008
the World Computer Progress, 7-10 Sept in Milan, Italy is entitled
"Innovation and the ICT Industry". The Opening session on
"Globalization in the Digital Scenario" by the Office of President and
Prime Minister of Italy is with speakers from intergovernmental and
non-governmental organisations, national leaders and key officers of
transnational industries. There are 2 hosted conferences on
"e-Inclusion" and "Women and Technology", 13 scientific conferences
covering areas such as entertainment computing, articifiical
intelligence, security, education, knowledge management, theoretical
computer science, human-computer interaction and more as well as 17
industry-related conferences on subjects including sport, tourism and
health, textile and fashion, environment and cultural heritage,
IT-skills and smart grids.
