Examination Rules

Below are the rules of conduct for examinations:

1. Candidates may be admitted to the Examination Room up to 10 minutes before the scheduled starting time.

2. Each candidate will be required to provide two forms of positive identification to the Examination Invigilator, including:

  • Photo identification
  • Notifcation letter advising details of the Examination Name and the papers for which the candidate is registered
  • Candidate's signature to be entered on the attendance sheet
The identification documents must be placed on top of the candidate's desk.

3. A candidate may bring the following items (in addition to identification documents) into the Examination Room:

  • Pens, pencils, erasers, rulers and other writing and drawing equipment plus any paper based materials either written or printed.

4. Candidates must not bring to examinations electronic devices including but not limited to:

  • Calculators
  • Notebook, handheld or PDA computers
  • Mobile or cellular telephones or other data storage and/or communications devices.

If any devices are found on a student this will result in a fail.

5. Writing paper will be supplied at the Examination Room. No program coding forms will be required (programs to be written on ordinary paper). No bags, calculator covers or cases, pencil cases, writing paper, or blotting paper may be taken into the Examination Room by a candidate.

6. All answer books and papers must remain on top of the candidate's desk at all times and must not be placed on the floor or on any other desk.

7. A candidate must not speak, or in any way give assistance, to any other candidate during the progress of the examination.

8. No candidate will be permitted to enter the Examination Room after the scheduled starting time.

9. No candidate will be permitted to leave the Examination Room earlier than 60 minutes after the actual starting time or during the 15 minutes preceding the finishing time.

10. Any candidate who shall be guilty of a breach of these rules shall fail that examination. If detected at the same time the candidate shall be summarily dismissed from the Examination Room, and may be liable to such further penalty as the ACS Council may from time to time determine.
