Tom Worthington FACS CP

Tom is the tutor in Green Technology Strategies and a member of the Faculty Board. He has 25 years' experience in ICT and 10 in tertiary education. Joining the public service as a programmer's assistant, he worked his way up through the ranks, programming and database design for large administrative and financial systems. Later Tom worked on ICT policy at the Department of Defence. He helped formulate national policy on the use of the Internet, before leaving government to become an independent consultant.
Currently, Tom is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the Research School of Computer Science, Australian National University, where he teaches IT ethics, web design, e-commerce and green IT.
Tom is the author of two books and frequent blogger. He is a former President of the ACS, a Fellow, Honorary Life Member and Certified Professional. Tom is also a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and voting member the Association for Computing Machinery.
He was presented with the ACT ICT Educator of the Year 2010 Award for his work on sustainable computing education. Tom is also a member of the ANU Climate and Energy Change Institute.
