ACS/Chifley Business School Graduate Diploma Scholarship

Supporting ACS members looking for a career in Management

The ACS and Chifley Business School offer current and graduate students of the Computer Professional Education Program the opportunity to receive a full scholarship for the Chifley Graduate Diploma of Management (Technology Management) program, valued at $6,380*.

Study period 1 runs from late January 2013 and scholarship applications will be accepted until 14 December 2012.

About the Scholarship:

Chifley’s Graduate Diploma of Management (Technology Management) combines broad business units with specialist subjects to give IT professionals the skills and knowledge they need to be successful in management roles. 

Graduates of the CPE program currently articulate with advance standing for four units of the Chifley MBA (Technology Management) program.

This scholarship offers students the opportunity to continue their professional development, culminating in a Graduate Diploma with Chifley.

New Scholarships for 2012 in QLD, WA and ACT

John Marshall Scholarship (Queensland)

John Marshall was a Fellow of the ACS and a well known and respected ICT professional in Queensland. In honour of his contribution to the ACS, three scholarships will be awarded each year, one in every study period, covering half the costs of the full program for each scholarship winner ($1800 in total). Criteria for the scholarships are the normal entry requirements for CPEP – a degree (or equivalent) in ICT and at least 18 months work experience in the ICT industry. The scholarship applicant must be working in ICT at the time of the application, be a member of the ACS and a resident in Queensland.

A current CV and a covering letter providing reasons why the applicant should be awarded the scholarship is also required. The scholarship is designed specifically for early career professionals not already studying in the CPe program.

Study Period 1, 2013 runs from 20 January to 20 April and enrolments close 13 January 2013.  Scholarship applications should be received no later than 31 December 2012.

Garry Trinder Scholarship (Western Australia)

Garry Trinder is a Fellow and Honorary Life Member of the ACS and a well known and respected ICT professional in Western Australia. He was also the first WA member to hold the positions of ACS National President and Branch Chair from 1989 to 1990. In honour of his continuing contribution to the ACS, three scholarships will be awarded each year, one in every study period, covering half the costs of the full program for each scholarship winner ($1800 in total). Criteria for the scholarships are the normal entry requirements for CPEP – a degree (or equivalent) in ICT and at least 18 months work experience in the ICT industry. The scholarship applicant must be working in the ICT industry at the time of the application, be a member of the ACS and a resident in Western Australia.

A current CV and a covering letter providing reasons why the applicant should be awarded the scholarship is also required. The scholarship is designed specifically for early career professionals not already studying in the CPe program.

Study Period 1, 2013 runs from 20 January to 20 April and enrolments close 13 January 2013.  Scholarship applications should be received no later than 31 December 2012.

CPeP Half Fee Scholarship (ACT)

The ACS will award three scholarships per year (one every study period) covering half the costs of the full program for each scholarship winner ($1800 in total). Criteria for the scholarships are the normal entry requirements for CPEP – a degree (or equivalent) in ICT and at least 18 months work experience in the ICT industry. The scholarship applicant must be working in the ICT industry at the time of the application, be a member of the ACS and a resident in Australian Capital Territory (ACT).

A current CV and a covering letter providing reasons why the applicant should be awarded the scholarship is also required. The scholarship is designed specifically for early career professionals not already studying in the CPe program.

Study Period 1, 2013 runs from 20 January to 20 April and enrolments close 13 January 2013.  Scholarship applications should be received no later than 31 December 2012.

Bob Northcote Scholarships  (South Australia)

Fellow and Honorary Life Member of the ACS, Professor Bob Northcote passed away in March 2009 leaving behind a legacy that includes establishing formal ACS membership standards and the accreditation of computing and ICT courses over a 15 year period. In his honour a perpetual scholarship fund has been set up for South Australian members of the ACS to undertake the CPE Program.

Three scholarships will be awarded each year, one in every study period, covering half the costs of the full program for each scholarship winner ($1800 in total). Criteria for the scholarships are the normal entry requirements for CPEP – a degree (or equivalent) in ICT and at least 18 months work experience in the ICT industry. Applicants must be working in the ICT industry at the time of application and be a member of the ACS and a resident in South Australia. A current CV and a short covering letter providing reasons why the applicant should be awarded the scholarships are also required. The scholarship is designed specifically for early career professionals not already studying in the CPe program.

Gerry Maynard Scholarships (Victoria)

Gerry Maynard was instrumental in the development of IT in Victoria and was awarded an Order of Australia in 2005 for his services to the information technology industry and education. He was an Honorary Life Member of the ACS and contributed to several board positions within the ACS during his career. Gerry also held an Honorary Doctorate in Infomatics from Monash University.

Gerry passed away in November 2008 and in honour of his contribution to the ACS, three scholarships will be awarded each year, one in every study period, covering half the costs of the full program for each scholarship winner ($1800 in total). Criteria for the scholarships are the normal entry requirements for CPEP - a degree (or equivalent) in ICT and at least 18 months work experience in the ICT industry. The scholarship applicant must be working in the ICT industry at the time of application and be a member of the ACS, plus a resident in Victoria. A current CV and a short covering letter providing reasons why the applicant should be awarded the scholarships are also required. The scholarship is designed specifically for early career professionals not already studying in the CPe program.

John Hughes Scholarships (New South Wales)

John Hughes was one of Australia’s prominent and respected academics in IT education. He was enormously influential in Computing Education worldwide through various positions in the Australian Computer Society, one being Director of the Professional Standards Board and also in the International Federation of Information Processing and in the World Conference on Computers in Education (WCCE).

John passed away 2006 and in honour of his contribution to the ACS, three scholarships will be awarded each year, one in every study period, covering half the costs of the full program for each scholarship winner ($1800 in total). Criteria for the scholarships are the normal entry requirements for CPEP – a degree (or equivalent) in ICT and at least 18 months work experience in the ICT industry. The scholarship applicant must be working in the ICT industry at the time of the application, be a member of the ACS and a resident in New South Wales. A current CV and a short covering letter providing reasons why the applicant should be awarded the scholarships are also required. The scholarship is designed specifically for early career professionals not already studying in the CPe program.

Young ICT Scholarship 2012

One scholarships will be awarded at the Young ICT conference to be held in Sydney on 8-9 October 2012. The scholarships, valued at $3600 each, will enable the recipient to complete this post graduate program and join the growing body of ACS Members who are Certified Professionals (CP).

Highly regarded as a program of excellence, The CPE Program is offered totally online, allowing busy professionals to maintain a ork/life balance.

Students complete four subjects, typically over 18 months (or four study periods). Assignments are set within the context of your work environment, and you’ll benefit from the extensive interaction with students world wide, plus guidance from experienced tutors and mentors. Subjects can be credited towards a number of leading MBA and MIT programs.

To be eligible for the scholarship you must attend the conference and complete an application form. You will also need to be available at the conference to receive your scholarship prize. Applicants must be ACS members who have a recognised ICT degree and have at least 18 months work experience in the ICT industry. (Students are not eligible to apply).

Past Young ICT Scholarship Winners

2011

The YIT Professionals Conference scholarship winners for 2011 were Maria Filippova and Siddarth Mehta both from Victoria. We congratulate our two young IT professionals who receive a $3600 scholarship each towards their CPEP studies. They will both commence in Study Period 1, 2012.

2010

The YIT Professionals Conference scholarship winners for 2010 were Brett Kessner from Western Australia and Michael Tulip from Victoria. We congratulate our two young IT professionals who receive a $3000 scholarship each towards their CPEP studies. They will both commence in Study Period 1, 2011.

2009

The YIT Professionals Conference scholarship winners for 2009 were Mr Pierre Diab from Sydney and Ms Debbie Timmins from Adelaide. We congratulate our two young IT professionals who receive a $3000 scholarship each towards their CPEP studies. They will both commence in Study Period 1, 2010.

2008

ACS awarded two scholarships at the Young ICT Professionals Conference held in Adelaide May 2008. The two lucky recipients were Mr Mohamed Fageer from Brisbane and Mr Hiran Mudiyangelage from Sydney. Both ACS Members receive scholarships to the value of $2700 for the full CPE Program. Congratulations to both recipients.
