Continuing Professional Development
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) improves your ability to perform your job by extending your knowledge and skills. As an ACS member you have a professional obligation to yourself, your employer and the community to plan and participate in CPD activities that are tailored to meet your needs and develop your career.
CPD is mandatory for all certified ACS members. Certified Professionals (CP) must complete 30 CPD hours per year. While Certified Technologist (CT) must complete and report 20 CPD hours each year.
Professional development should be a self-managed lifelong and continual learning process. The ACS recommends adopting a structured approach and planning your professional development to ensure you demonstrate your continuing commitment to your profession, and to develop the good practice of regularly reviewing your needs and selecting relevant learning activities to help you fulfill them.
ACS members and, where appropriate, their employers are best placed to decide what professional development is appropriate to maintain their knowledge and skills required for their current role, and for development into future roles.
Certified ACS members must be able to demonstrate, if requested, their commitment to professional development through written evidence of their CPD activities.
