Kate Reid

Kate Reid is a lawyer, having worked with the national law firm Clayton Utz, in the Sydney office as a corporate lawyer between 1992-1995.

She has temporarily suspended legal practice to undertake a Masters of Law at the University of New South Wales on the topic of legal risk management in Internet commerce. She has in-depth expertise in relation to the legal issues associated with Internet commerce.

In relation to her research topic, she has recently completed a substantial (30 000 words) chapter on the contractual risks associated with Internet commerce and the strategies businesses can implement to minimise those risks. On 6 April 1998 she presented a short seminar on electronic commerce to the People's Republic of China Legislative Affairs Commission Delegation at the University of Canberra.

Kate also presented a seminar on the taxation implications of Internet commerce at a Taxation Technology Seminar held at the University of Canberra on 8 September 1997. Kate is presently researching the legal risks associated with enforcement of Internet transactions from an evidential and jurisdictional point of view.

Kate also holds a position at the University of Canberra as a part-time lecturer and researcher. This semester she is co-lecturing in Concepts and Elements of Law.
