Achieving goals through a Personalised Career Coaching Program

The objective of personalised career coaching is to assist you, as an individual, in increasing awareness of your transferable skills and knowledge, strongest interests, motivators, career dreams and aspirations while also ensuring a reality check. Career coaching will help you to identify options and choices available to you and assist in creating an action plan to get you to where you want to go. It is a "package" of four one-hour meetings at two-weekly intervals over a period of eight weeks.

The program will start with self-reflection that forms the foundation of coaching, examine ideas, options and choices, identify obstacles that may get in the way and determine strategies for dealing with them. It may also include coaching in the job search process including writing effective resumes and performing well in interviews.

However, no problem solving in itself can achieve your goals. Success is very dependent upon your level of commitment and participation in the program.

Outcome

A better understanding of personal strengths, interests, motivators, skills and knowledge and how these can be applied.

Outline

The program’s building blocks are self-appraisal or reflection, followed by identifying options and choices and finally, creating a career development plan.

Format

This is an individualised, one-on-one program for those who want specialist support. It is facilitated by Heidi Winney, a career services expert, who has previously delivered on this subject at the ACS with great success. It is a "package" of four one-hour meetings at two-weekly intervals over a period of eight weeks. Action planning is included at the end of each session to ensure that you are committed to change and that you move through the program within this period.

This includes self-assessment, discovery and subsequent discussion on interests, skills, motivators, strengths and talents, values, career satisfaction, etc.

A workbook designed to help participants identify, focus and reflect on the above will be provided.

In some instances, the Myers Briggs Type Indicator® (Expanded Interpretive Report) may be beneficial. This would mean that one hour of the four-hour package would be taken up with the Myers Briggs profile. An additional cost will apply for this and any instruments used.

If you can pinpoint your needs and objectives a one-hour session may be enough for you.
