About the ChapterThe Western Sydney Chapter of the ACS has two objectives: to provide services and opportunities for ACS members (and prospective members) who live or work in Western Sydney, and to increase the interaction between the ACS and businesses using, developing and providing IT in the region. We plan to have meetings with speakers so that ACS members in this part of the world can have the opportunity to see some of the speakers that appear at the regular ACS branch forums without the logistical nightmare of crossing a Harbour Bridge with only two south-bound lanes to get to a meeting in Sydney at 6pm. Another activity of the branch will be to provide meeting and networking opportunities for members. These will be informal get-togethers on a monthly basis over a drink or a meal. We will also involve ourselves with other bodies and organisations in the area to promote discussion and activities related to IT. Examples would be with the Office of Western Sydney and their very successful Western Sydney IT Conference, business groups such as the Greater Western Sydney Business Connection, the regional and local Chambers of Commerce, the University of Western Sydney, and government organisations such as the Greater Western Sydney Economic Development Board and the GROW Employment Council (Growing Regional Opportunities for Work). The chapter will not only provide ACS members in the area with activities and options that they may not have had before, but will also allow the ACS to play a bigger role in the growth of the already dynamic IT world that exists in Western Sydney. For any further information about the Chapter, please contact the Convenor, Peter Bowditch by or telephone at 0419 219 659, or the on (02) 9261 4411. Back to Western Sydney Chapter
