ACS Attracts World Experts for Requirements Process Seminars
Tuesday, 4 March 1997 - "I didn't believe the Rob Thomsett blurb but the Robertson seminars are as good as it gets when it comes to understanding systems analysis and requirements modelling."
This was one of the many favourable views expressed at the end of the first in a series of seminars put on by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) around Australia in six States and the Northern Territory.
The seminars feature two of Europe’s leading trainers, Suzanne and James Robertson, who are widely recognised on both sides of the Atlantic as experts in systems analysis and requirements modelling.
Their two day seminar, "Mastering the Requirements Process" teaches systems analysts and managers, project leaders, consultants and planners to develop systems that meet the users’ specifications and are used with enthusiasm, as well as ways of improving customer relations and making all requirements measurable and traceable.
Director of the ACS Professional Development Board, Jon Heales, said the Society had been fortunate to secure the services of such high-profile trainers as the Robertsons.
"As the professional Society representing the IT industry, it’s our responsibility to ensure that our members have access to the highest calibre of teaching in a wide range of specialist areas. We are planning to run a series of national events such as this throughout the year, covering a broad spectrum of topics," he said.
Participants at the first seminar in the series, held this week in Melbourne, have been vocal in their praise of the Robertson’s content and technique.
Chairman of the ACS Victorian Branch, Associate Professor Phil Steele, said he considered the Robertsons to be among the best presenters he had seen.
"They were right across the topic, covering every possible aspect of the requirements process with lots of helpful hints for achieving a successful outcome to any systems development project," he said.
ACS Members can earn 12 PCP points by attending the two-day seminar, which will run on the following dates in all mainland capitals:
Adelaide 6-7 March
Perth 10-11 March
Darwin 13-14 March
Brisbane 17-18 March
Sydney 19-20 March
