ACS Signs InformationAge Publishing Contract with IDG
Tuesday, 25 November 1997 - The Australian Computer Society (ACS) has signed an agreement with specialist technology publishing house, IDG Communications, to take over the publication of its flagship magazine, InformationAge.
Launched in 1993 as Informatics and published under licence by Strategic Publishing Group, the monthly magazine was renamed InformationAge in early 1995. With an audited circulation of 15,235, which includes all ACS members, InformationAge is the largest circulation general IT monthly, reporting on industry news and major technology developments as well as providing informative features on issues affecting IT professionals.
With the contract up for renewal this month, ACS CEO Arthur Dyster said the Society evaluated several organisations before selecting IDG to take over as the magazine’s new publisher.
"We’re delighted to announce this new partnership with IDG and look to them to continue the very high standard of publishing established for InformationAge by Strategic."
Mr Dyster said a smooth and cooperative handover of responsibilities had ensured there would be no delay in production of the next scheduled issue of the magazine, due for delivery in February 1998.
IDG Managing Director, Don Kennedy, has welcomed the opportunity to take the magazine through to the end of the millennium, saying the contract for InformationAge enhances their commitment to provide information services to every significant sector of IT decision-makers in Australia.
"ACS members make an important addition to our readership portfolio, which ranges from CIOs through IS executives and network managers to business buyers of PCs.
"We have several improvements planned for the magazine, but the genuinely exciting part of our agreement with the Society involves the creation of new, special information services for ACS members, using online services to expand the information package now appearing in print. These new information services will be rolled out during the coming year," said Mr Kennedy
In announcing the handover, Mr Dyster paid special tribute to the outstanding contribution of Strategic Publishing Group in developing InformationAge to its current high standard, expressing the Society’s deep appreciation for SPG’s dedication and hard work.
