Friday 17 September 1999 - The NSW Branch of the Australian Computer Society (ACS) has joined forces with the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) to host the Central Coast IT&T Dinner on Friday 24th September 1999, at Linton Gardens, Somersby.
Billed as a gala IT&T function, the Central Coast IT&T Dinner will incorporate the announcement of the NSW Government IT&T Strategy for the Central Coast by the Honourable Kim Yeadon, and the presentation of the NSW Pearcey Award in IT.
Sponsored by the NSW Government Office of IT, the 1999 State Pearcey Award will be awarded to an individual for innovative and pioneering achievement and contribution to research in IT.
With over 3,500 members in NSW, the ACS NSW Branch recently opened a Chapter on the Central Coast and has been actively promoting IT&T in this region with the support of the Central Coast Economic Development Board.
The IT&T strategy for the Central Coast is the first element to be completed under the Central Coast Economic Development Board's Connect.Central Coast Project, which is aimed at improving the ability of the Central Coast region to access and take advantage of the latest in information and communications technologies.
According to Mr Philip Argy, ACS NSW Chairman, "As an organisation, the ACS is committed to furthering the application of IT&T nationally, regionally and amongst the wider community. We're delighted to be hosting the Pearcey Awards and to have the Honourable Kim Yeadon unveil the IT&T strategy for the Central Coast."
