ACS Spotlights Canberra's Top ICT Professionals

 

Four Key Awards Presented at Inaugural ACS Canberra ICT Awards

Thursday, 26th November -The Australian Computer Society (ACS) has staged its inaugural Canberra ICT Awards Presentation Dinner overnight, recognising outstanding performances and contributions by leading ICT professionals and teams in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) ICT community.

Attended by Senator Kate Lundy MP along with over 120 professionals at the Lobby, the event recognised the following winners:

  • Innovation Award
    Winner - AutoMap Team, NICTA
    Highly Commended - Titan Framework, PSARN International
  • Education Award
    Winner - InTACT
    Highly Commended - Neil Lynch, University of Canberra
  • Green ICT Award (Corporate)</b>
    Winner - Australian Crime Commission
    Highly Commended - CIO Group, Department of Defence
  • Student Project Award
    Winner – myBikeSetup Team, Australian National University (ANU)
    Highly Commended – Team SandSoft, University of Canberra

“The ACS is delighted to recognise outstanding achievements by ICT professionals and teams that lead the way in areas crucial to the growth of our industry,” said Kumar Parakala, ACS Chairman. “Congratulations to all our deserving winners and I hope these Awards encourage continuing effort and investment in ICT for many years to come.”

Bruce Larkin, ACS CEO said he was impressed by the level of interest in the inaugural ACS Awards. “Those individuals and organisations awarded tonight reflect the depth and breadth of ICT in Canberra. While Australian ICT is well regarded internationally, we need to continue developing highly technical and dedicated ICT professionals with good soft and entrepreneurship skill sets to ensure we remain competitive in a global context.”

ACS ICT Awards Organising Committee Chairman and ACS Canberra Branch Vice Chair, Yohan Ramasundara, said that the aim of the ACS Canberra awards was to demonstrate the performance and work of the ACT’s leading ICT professionals in areas of innovation, education and green ICT, as well as encouraging up and coming professionals.
