ACS Elects 2003 Office Bearers, Names New Fellows
Friday 6 December 2002 - The Australian Computer Society (ACS) has elected its leadership team for 2003 and awarded seven Fellowships and one Honorary Life Membership in recognition of those individuals' contributions to industry and the Society.
A recent meeting of the ACS National Council elected officials to a range of senior representative positions with the following results:
Current ACS National President, Richard Hogg, continues his term in this role until the end of 2003, as does the Society's other Vice President, Brenda Aynsley.
In all instances where the incumbents ran again, they were reaffirmed in their positions. The resignation of Marketing Board Director, Jeff Garner, led to the appointment of John Ridge in that role for 2003-04.
The Council also elected one Honorary Life Member (HLM) for outstanding services to the ACS over an extended period, and seven Fellows, in recognition of their important contributions to the ICT industry in Australia.
Former ACS President and current Publications Board Director, Tom Worthington, was awarded an HLM for his many years of productive service at both national and branch level. He held the positions of Canberra Branch Chair and Community Affairs Board Director as well as helping to drive the Society's use of electronic publishing and other online technologies.
The Council also confirmed the election of seven ACS members to the grade of Fellow:
