ACS Sponsors PyCon 2012

Last weekend, the ACS Tasmania Branch was very proud to be part of the PyCon 2012 conference held at West Point.

PyCon Australia is the national conference for professionals, students and enthusiasts who work with the Python Programming Language.

The conference attracted over two hundred attendees from many varied and diverse backgrounds with a common interest in Python Programming Language. The ACS was well represented with TAS-BEC Members: Robbie Batten, Paris Buttfield Addison, and Jon Manning all in attendance.

ACS State Manager Ray Leonard addressed delegates at the conference and expressed how proud and excited the ACS Tasmanian Branch was to be a part of the Open Source Software Movement.

"With our ever evolving industry, open source provides one the most innovative sectors in ICT. The ACS is very much aware of the potential to gain, and share knowledge and how important that people in the industry are supported and encouraged to participate in these types of forums.”

Ray also thanked and praised the amazing efforts of the PyCon 2012 team, in particular the Tasmanian contingent. "As a conference solely organised by volunteers this is truly an amazing achievement.”

The ACS looks forward to a continued close relationship with our Open Source brethren and is looking forward to PyCon 2013.
