Digital Economy
- The scope of the government’s Cyber White Paper expands to ICT skills development, teleworking, cloud strategy, and how best to support the funding needs of new digital businesses. Responsibility for paper has also move to the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy from The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
- French tax authorities have made a €1.3 billion ($1.64 billion) claim against Google to pressure it in a dispute over compensation to media websites, a French newspaper reported, a claim denied by the US internet giant's French arm.
- The treasury warns that regulating Australian IT pricing would stiffed innovation and reduce competition in Australia.

- ICT managers are "walking a fine line" between servicing the business and becoming over-stretched by departments adopting technologies, according to a hiring expert.
- The US Department of Homeland Security is considering setting up a “Cyber Reserve” of computer security experts who could be called upon in the event of a crippling cyber attack.

- The Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy (DBCDE) along with Telstra and Microsoft, launch Australia's next national cyber security competition, Cyber Security Challenge Australia 2013 (CySCA 2013).

- NBN to facilitate closer ties with Asia: The Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, today welcomed the release of the Australia in the Asian Century White Paper, saying that the National Broadband Network will play an integral role in strengthening the Australian economy, including through engagement with Asia in the decades ahead.
