ACS Appoints Congress Representative and Professional Standards Board Director
Friday 24 February 2012: The ACS (Australian Computer Society) has elected two candidates to fill casual positions during the national Congress meeting in Sydney in February. Arnold Wong will serve as the newly elected Congress Representative, while Professor Michael Johnson will fill the role of Professional Standards Board Director. Their terms are effective immediately and will run through to December 2013 and December 2012 respectively.
Arnold Wong
Wong has held various prominent ICT professional roles throughout his career. He served as Chair of the Faculty Industry Advisory Board (Engineering, Computing and Mathematics) at the University of Western Australia from 2009-2011, and is the current chair of the WAiTTA Organising Committee and Vice Chair of the WA ACS Branch Executive Committee. Wong’s immediate goal is to strengthen the relationship between the ACS, AIIA and Pearcey to further enable the ACS to be a leader in advancing the ICT profession in Australia and internationally.
Michael Johnson
Johnson has been a professor at Macquarie University for over ten years. He has been a member of the ACS Professional Standards Board for the past five years and feels strongly about raising and maintaining standards in the ICT profession at large. Johnson is a renowned and respected academic, having commentated on topics such as mathematics, science and ICT for ABC radio.
