Call for expressions of interest to join the ACS Cyber Task Force
On 15 September the Australian Government released a discussion paper “Connecting with Confidence, Optimising Australia’s Digital Future”. The paper seeks input on how government, industry and the community can work together to address the challenges and risks arising from greater digital engagement and, in doing so, complement the government’s vision for Australia to become a leading digital economy by 2020.
The Australian Computer Society (ACS) Policy Committee has recommended the formation of an ACS Cyber Task Force of experts to develop a comprehensive response to the questions posed in the discussion paper.
The terms of reference for the ACS Cyber Task Force are:
a. To contribute to the preparation of submission to the Public Discussion Paper “Connecting with Confidence, Optimising Australia’s Digital Future”;
b. To support in the consultation with members of their views and opinions of the Public Discussion Paper;
c. To make recommendations to the Policy Committee in the submission to the Public Discussion Paper.
ACS members who are interested in being part of the task force should send an expression of interest topolicy@acs.org.au on or before Friday 7 October. Please include your name, ACS member number, and short explanation of the knowledge and experience you can bring to the team.
The ACS Policy Committee is responsible for the composition of the task force, and the group will be disbanded around mid-November 2011, after the ACS makes a submission to the government.
ACS members can also provide general input on the discussion paper via email policy@acs.org.au.
