ACS President Anthony Wong, said “I would like to congratulate the ACS Victorian Branch on this impressive milestone. Their achievements over the past 50 years have played a fundamental role in developing and shaping the state’s ICT landscape and economy, as well as the national ICT sector. Victoria has a strong and revered ICT industry, which includes 157,251 industry professionals and contributes $24.3bn of ICT revenue. We look forward to celebrating the accomplishments of the Branch and its members this evening.”

ACS Victorian Branch Chairman Ian Dennis, explained, “This is a truly historic celebration for the Victorian ICT industry and the State’s ICT professionals. I am honoured to be the Branch Chairman at a time when we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Victorian Branch and would like to pay tribute to one of the Branch’s founding members Peter Murton. Thanks to Peter, ICT professionals in Victoria have had a public voice for the past 50 years and will to continue to play a role in developing the industry in the future.

“The Branch has made significant contributions to the ACS, including the establishment of the national ACS publication, the formation of the Pearcey Foundation and commencement of ICT education. The continued growth of the Victorian ICT industry as an innovative and dynamic ICT sector is a testament to the ACS Victorian Branch’s critical role in establishing and promoting ICT professionalism”, said Mr Dennis.

The ACS Victorian Branch hosted a 50th Anniversary Cocktail Celebration last night for members and key ICT industry representatives at the Club Conservatory, to toast the Branch’s success and achievements.
