ACS Appoints Alan Patterson as New CEO
Tuesday 24th May, 2011: ACS President, Anthony Wong, today announced the
appointment of Alan
Patterson as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Society, effective 24th
May, 2011.
Mr Patterson brings extensive experience in not-for-profit, healthcare, accreditation and training organisations. He has led organisational change in his capacity as CEO of the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA), Managing Director of Pearl Healthcare and International Marketing Manager of GC Corporation.
Mr Wong said Mr Patterson’s experience in working with governments, combined with his background in accreditation and professional development, will be of great benefit to the Society and its members. “Alan is a highly qualified senior manager who possesses an excellent understanding of the challenges and opportunities that impact professional bodies. He has strong senior management experience gained while running businesses of various size and delivering organisational change.
“Alan has been charged with implementing the ACS Strategic Plan. His leadership will help drive key initiatives that benefit our members and assist the ACS in advancing the certification of ICT professionals in Australia,” said Mr Wong.
Mr Patterson said he is delighted and honoured to take on the CEO role and to address the challenges within the ICT industry and the profession. “The ACS is Australia’s leading body representing ICT professionals and a guardian of professional standards and ethics in the industry,” he said.
“I am proud to be a part of the ACS. I look forward to implementing the Society’s Strategic Plan and raising the profile of ICT professionals in Australia. My initial areas of focus will include engaging with members and helping to progress the certification of ICT professionals.”
Mr Patterson was appointed after an extensive national search by leading executive recruitment firm, Talent2. Diana Williams of Talent2 said Mr Patterson was selected from a strong pool of candidates.

Alan was the successful candidate due to his considerable experience as a senior manager leading organisational change and his experience as a leader in services-based organisations and the not-for-profit sector.
