ACS & AIIA Host the 2011 iAwards

31 March 2011: The Australian Computer Society (ACS) and the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) today announced they will jointly deliver the prestigious 2011 iAwards, which will include four new categories to recognise individual achievement.

Bruce Lakin, ACS CEO, commented, “The iAwards is Australia’s premier technology innovation awards program and the ACS is delighted to be working with the AIIA to enhance the program through recognition of individual ICT professionals. We are pleased to announce that from 2011 the iAwards will be open to both companies at the cutting edge of technology innovation as well as leading ICT professionals across the industry. The 2011 iAwards will span individual achievement across four new categories and company excellence over 16 different categories.

“This is a very fitting expansion of the awards program to cover the true breadth of the Australian Industry,” said AIIA CEO Ian Birks. “The iAwards now showcase every aspect of the Australian industry. And they remain a truly international program, with Australia’s most successful ICT companies competing for the opportunity to represent the nation at the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Award in Thailand later this year.”

  • Mr Lakin said “We are also excited to announce that the ACS Vice President of Community Boards, Jim Ellis has been appointed the head judge of the 2011 iAwards. Jim is a revered ICT professional and is well qualified to lead the judging panel who will determine the winners from a outstanding panel of nominees. He has worked in the information technology industry for over 45 years, for a wide variety of ICT organisations, both overseas and in Australia.”

    ACS Vice President of Community Boards, Jim Ellis, explained, “I am honoured to be representing the premier technology awards platform in Australia. We have a great depth of knowledgeable and pioneering ICT talent within our nation, which I am sure will be on display at the 2011 iAwards.”
