ACS 2011 Elections – Nominations Sought
The ACS Congress at its 25 November meeting in Hobart will elect for two-year terms commencing 01 Jan 2012:
a) the ACS President;
b) the Vice President [Membership Boards]; and
c) the National Congressional Representatives (4 in number).
Nominations will close at midnight EST on 14 November 2011.
Members of Management Committee are expected to acknowledge on a regular basis that they have read and understood the contents and intent of the Corporate Behaviour document.
You should be careful not to approach a role on the ACS Management Committee more casually than you would a position on a commercial Board. Legally and ethically the positions are subject to the same expectations and responsibilities. Further to the information contained in the Corporate Behaviour document, some of the standards of behaviour each committee member should recognise and agree to uphold include:
- To take personal responsibility for contributing impartially to the decisions of the committee, with no thought given to personal gain
- To always act in the best interests of the Society as a whole and not of the interests of any particular interest group, such as the constituency which enabled you to gain your position on Management Committee
- To actively seek adequate knowledge about the business of the Society
- To provide strong support for the long term strategies of the Society
- To accept the need to sufficiently prepare for committee meetings
- To devote sufficient time to the duties of a member of the committee
- To uphold high ethical standards
