ACS 2011 Elections - Candidate Information
The ACS Congress at its 25 November meeting in Hobart will elect for two-year terms commencing 1 Jan 2012:
a) the ACS President;
b) the Vice President [Membership Boards]; and
c) the National Congressional Representatives (4 in number).
Nominations closed at midnight EST on 14 November 2011.
There is 1 candidate for President and 2 candidates for Vice President (Membership Boards). All the VP candidates either have the endorsement of the Membership Boards or are waiting on endorsement.
Congress must elect, as a National Congressional Representative, one of the Congressional Representatives from each Branch with membership that includes a number of members entitled to vote at general meetings of the Society greater than 25% of the total number of members entitled to vote at general meetings of the Society, calculated at the end of the month preceding the election. The CEO has certified that two Branches meet this criteria, the NSW Branch and the Victoria Branch. Only one nomination for National Congressional Representative has been received from both the NSW Branch and the Victoria Branch. There are 2 candidates for the remaining two (2) positions.
A statement from each of the candidates regarding their nomination is attached for your information. The candidates will have the opportunity of addressing Congress on their candidacy. Congress may ask questions of each candidate and then can discuss the candidates before being asked to vote.
