"ACS CENTRES OF EXCELLENCE"

ACS WA Branch is proud to announce the launch of two "ACS Centres of Excellence" by its National President, Kumar Parakala.

Hear from the ACS National President and our own thought leaders. Professor Andrew Rohl, CEO, iVEC and Professor Tony Watson, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Edith Cowan University, how this ACS WA Branch initiative will bring the benefits of partnerships with world-class institutions to the local and national ICT community.

SecAU Security Research Centre provides focus for research into security related topics within ECU, primarily within the digital/information and physical security areas, but also biological, chemical, radiological and nuclear security, psychological impacts and emergency management. SecAU's initial research themes are Surveillance and Intelligence, Digital Security and Forensics, Information Security, Airport Security, Emergency Management, Radiological and Nuclear Security and policy, Biosecurity and Chemical Security and their associated potential for terrorist attacks.

iVEC, The hub of advanced computing in Western Australia, provides the research, education and industrial communities with access to high performance computing, visualisation and laboratories and expertise. Application areas include nanotechnology, radioastronomy, high energy physics, medical research, mining, petroleum, architecture, multimedia, and urban planning. The Commonwealth Government allocated $80 million to iVEC for planning, design and construction of the Pawsey High Performance Computing Centre for SKA Science. iVEC will be responsible for the management and operation of the centre when it commences operation in 2012.
