Toastmasters
Since 2008 ACS Toastmasters Club has helped around 30 members each year to develop and transform their communication and leadership skills. This is achieved by participation in the Toastmasters educational program.
The Toastmasters program is a self-directed, self-paced learning program. No prior experience is required. New members are provided with the project based Competent Communication manual that teaches the basic skills of public speaking. Each project requires the member to commit time to develop and deliver a speech to practice the cumulative skills they have learned.
The club provides a mutually supportive and positive learning environment through effective speech evaluations and a mentor program. Our SIG meetings include stage time to help members build confidence and competence in their impromptu speaking and prepared speeches.
Our members have testified to the many positive outcomes they have gained from becoming a more effective speaker and leader. Examples include the ability to respond confidently at job interviews; facilitation of business meetings; prepare and make effective presentations to management; and, articulately inform and influence stakeholders in their work place.
For more information and to see the program in action you should attend our meetings. If you decide that you would like to commit to active participation in the program then we will be delighted to induct you through membership of Toastmasters International (fees apply).
