Information Security

Mission

The mission of the Information Security Special Interest Group is to enable and encourage the sharing of information, current trends and best practice across all areas of Information Security. This is achieved by providing a forum where members can share and learn from the knowledge and experience of others.

Objectives

The objective of the SIG is to improve/broaden the knowledge of information security practitioners and those with an interest in information security, through:

  • Providing a regular bi-monthly networking forum to share and discuss business and technical areas of Information Security
  • Presenting expert guest speakers with knowledge and experience in a variety of areas of information security. This may include generic solutions, processes, tips & tricks, best practices, lessons learnt, and future advances and trends on Information Security
  • Allowing attendees to build and maintain a repository of contacts and resources to assist them with their Information Security needs/requirements.

Outcomes

  • Regular bi-monthly group meetings with guest speakers
  • Information on; Workshops, Seminars and Forums
  • An informal network of contacts amongst members
  • Links with other organisations involved in the same or related fields of endeavours
  • Repository of resources (presentations, contacts, research areas etc.)
