Summary from the presentation

NextG was begun in October 2006. 3 Series devices have a maximum 3.6 Mbps speed with a expected operational speed of 1.5 Mbps. The new Turbo 7 series devices have a maximum speed of 7.2 Mbps. This has allowed business to operate in more places.

Xora is used for tracking workers, vehicles and assets using 3G telephony and GPS. This is useful for travelling workers to time stamp start and finish times of jobs with location details. New job details can be pushed or pulled as required. This can save time a fuel by picking your next job closest to your current location. The backend system can be in a downloaded Excel format or accounting packages such as MYOB. Less paperwork is required using the system. First job of day can be issued without a trip to the office. SMS of job details and directions can be sent to 3G phone. The office can use a web browser to see a map of where all the workers/vehicles are in real time. Blackberry Email allows remote handheld email management via connection to your company mail server

Business Secure Video Monitoring via Internet or 3G phone. Can work with alarms systems and lock/unlock doors.

Desktop Messaging allows sending of SMS from your computer. This can integrate with Outlook including groups and scheduled messages. E.g. Reminder SMS of car service to customer in 6 months.

Mobile payment using 3G phone a T-Pad card reader. T-Pad is a ~$300 device that uses bluetooth to communicate via the phone and uses your merchant account. Payments are handled quicker and a receipt can be sent to a customers email address. This can save on paperwork and improve cashflow.
