I’ve been a member of the ACS for over 10 years. I believe that experience plays an important part in your development as an ICT professional. Experience can be gained obviously through our day to day work life, but can also be gained through taking time to listen to others and their experiences. The ACS offers a diverse and ongoing array of events which provide exactly that opportunity.
In a broader sense the ACS strives to provide our industry with standards and professional guidelines such as the Professional Code of Conduct. In my capacity as Principal Consultant for the Artis Group, I know the demonstration of personal professionalism plays a key factor in joining the Artis team. For this reason, ACS members come to the table with an advantage. To me, ACS membership provides an instant indicator of one’s commitment to professionalism, and not just for personal gain, but for advancement of the ICT industry.
I recommend all ICT practitioners join, be engaged with, and enjoy the benefits of the ACS from as early on in their career as possible.
