The IT Profession: Today and Tomorrow

Mr Edward Mandla, ACS President

Edward Mandla is President of the Australian Computer Society.

His IT career spans over 21 years, working with leading US and Australian companies including Computer Associates, Resumix (now Yahoo), Protech Microsystems, AST Computers (now Samsung), HiSoft and Parity Computers.

Mr Mandla produces regular columns for The Australian, SMH, Technology and Business, PC Authority, Information Age, and Windows for Professionals. In addition, he sits on a number of commercial and government advisory groups and is a regular presenter in public forums.

Academically, Mr Mandla received First Class Honours in Commerce from UNSW majoring in Information Systems. He also won the "Datec Prize" for Best Honours Thesis. In addition to this, Mr Mandla was awarded the first University Medal for outstanding academic achievement in Information Systems. He is a Member of the ACS and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.


In his presentation Mr Mandla will discuss the current state of the IT profession and what we might expect in the future. He will cover controversial issues such as offshoring and explain what the ACS policy on these is.
