Steve Bittinger is a Research Director for Gartner, and has over 30 years' experience in Information Technology.

Mr Bittinger's research focuses on Government, process improvement, large-scale infrastructure and operations, governance and management, business and technology strategy, Higher Education, and "disruptive innovation".

Prior to joining Gartner, he was the chief technology officer at inter-touch, installing broadband Internet access in five-star hotels worldwide. Before that, Mr Bittinger managed global infrastructure at Reckitt & Colman, where he was responsible for IT infrastructure, including developing a network that linked 100 locations across 45 countries. He was also technical director at Pegasus Networks, an Internet service provider, and had IT management roles at the University of Tasmania, and Shell Oil in New Zealand.

Mr. Bittinger earned a bachelor's degree with honors in mathematics and computer science from the University of Texas at Austin (1974).
