Conference Overview

The 2010 ACS Canberra Branch Conference was a one day event starting 9:00 am on Thursday 25 March and ending with a networking event at 5:30 pm.

The Conference was opened by the Chief Minister of the Australian Capital Territory. Keynote speakers include:

  • John Sheridan, AGIMO

  • Matt Yannopoulos, Chief Technology Officer, Department of Defence

  • Bruce Lakin, CEO ACS

The day featured a range of plenary speakers followed by breakout sessions led by expert presenters. The lunch, morning and afternoon tea breaks provide delegates the opportunity to visit sponsor booths in the exhibition area and to network with colleagues. The event concluded with the UNSW@Canberra Legotm Robotics Tournament and cocktails.

Conference Themes and Streams

Conference Theme: Sharing ideas — delivering visions

  1. Sharing Ideas: Share ideas and experiences of driving value through effective ICT.
  2. Delivering Visions: Explore ways that visions have been developed and successfully exploited to build value and achieve a competitive advantage.

Conference Streams

The Conference was organised around four streams, with a number of presentations and a workshop:

  1. Data Management: Best practices in data management and how the effective use of data can support business strategies and add value to organisations and their stakeholders.
  2. Service Management: Enabling ICT professionals to share ideas on the opportunities available though the implementation of service management, and to discover what works and what doesn’t in the service delivery domain.
  3. Personal Development: Helping ICT professionals to develop core non-ICT skills that can help them perform more effectively in their organisation and enhance their careers.
  4. Enterprise Architecture: Explore how organisations can build a holistic view of their organisational strategy, processes, information and information technology assets.

Streams session were run in parellel with synchronised times so delegates can mix and match the sessions they attend.

Venue

The 2010 Canberra Branch Annual Conference was held at the Canberra Hyatt Hotel in Yarralumla. The conference will be held on the one level with networking areas central to the plenary and breakout rooms. The large foyer had more than adequate space for the sponsors’ exhibition and our format is sure to facilitate wonderful opportunities for delegates to mix with colleagues and meet others working in the ICT industry.
