Welcome to the web site of ACS-W, the women’s Board of the Australian Computer Society. In November 2002 the ACS National Council unanimously adopted the following policy:
“The ACS has an obligation to the Australian community to bring about economic, social and intellectual benefits through a higher participation of women in ICT.
At national, state and regional levels, the ACS commits to create and support initiatives that encourage the entry, development and retention of women in ICT professions generally and within the ACS.”
ACS-W was established two years later to advance this policy and to represent women members of the ACS at the most senior level of the society.
There is so much to do!
ACS-W is not simply a networking or self-help group within the ACS. It is a policy board, a supporter of research and development activities, a source of information and an advocate for women in ICT.
On this site you will find information about ACS-W, snapshots of current information about the status of women in the ICT profession, links, discussion forums, presentations, and news of significant events.
